Issue 3\u00a0(June 2017)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Page No.:<\/strong>\u00a02144-2148<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>DOI:\u00a0<\/strong>https:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.16965\/ijpr.2017.162<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">ASSESSMENT OF POSTURAL DEVIATIONS IN GIRLS SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Asmaa Osama Sayed *<sup>1<\/sup>,\u00a0 Gehan Hassen ELmenyawee <sup>1<\/sup>, Amira Bekheet Abdel- sabour <sup>2<\/sup>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><sup>1<\/sup> Department of physical therapy for growth and developmental disorder in children and its surgery, Faculty of physical therapy, Cairo University, Egypt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><sup>2<\/sup> Bachelor of science in physical therapy, Cairo University, Egypt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Address for Correspondence: <\/strong>Dr. Asmaa Osama Sayed, Lecturer, Department of Physical Therapy for Growth and Developmental Disorders in Children and It\u2019s Surgery, Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University, Egypt.<strong> E-Mail:\u00a0 <\/strong>drasmaaosama@yahoo.com<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Background:<\/strong> musculoskeletal deviations exist among children in the public schools that raises the need for a mandatory postural screening program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Purpose: <\/strong>of this study was to identify the postural alternations that occur in girls school students between age 7 to 9years old.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Materials and Methods: <\/strong>three hundred thirty seven normal girls students were selected using multistage sampling methods , aged from 7 to 9 years old in governmental school in southern educational district in Alexandria they were photographed in sagittal and frontal planes (anterior, posterior and lateral view) from standing position with markers on certain bony landmarks, then images were analyzed using specially designed auto cat software program to detect postural abnormality as follow:1) postural scliosis, 2) postural kyphosis,3)sway back(excessive lumber hyperlordosis).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Results: <\/strong>showed that there is mild postural kyphosis (44%<strong>)<\/strong>, mild percentage of excessive hyperlordosis (45%), very low percentage of postural scoliosis (27.6%) of sample representing population in in southern educational district in Alexandria. all of them are non-structural postural deviation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conclusion: <\/strong>there is a rise of postural alternation in school age girls in governmental school (postural kyphosis, excessive hyperlordosis, postural scoliosis)\u00a0 that need to be prevented by early detection of postural abnormality that can affect the quality of life during childhood and continue through adulthood.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Key words<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0Posture, Scoliosis, Postural Kyphosis, Excessive Hyperlordosis, Students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>REFERENCES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Penha PJ, Casarotto RA,\u00a0 Sacco ICN,\u00a0 Marques AP and Jo\u00e3o SMA.
