No.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 09885124371 <strong>E-Mail:<\/strong>\u00a0 naveena.swargam@yahoo.com<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Introduction:<\/strong> Sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in \u00a0the \u00a0body. \u00a0It \u00a0originates \u00a0from \u00a0the \u00a0sacral \u00a0plexus \u00a0from \u00a0L4-S3 \u00a0roots \u00a0in \u00a0the \u00a0form \u00a0of \u00a0two \u00a0nerve \u00a0trunks. \u00a0The \u00a0Tibial \u00a0nerve \u00a0and \u00a0Common peroneal \u00a0nerve \u00a0are \u00a0encompassed \u00a0by \u00a0single \u00a0epineural \u00a0sheath \u00a0and \u00a0eventually \u00a0separates. \u00a0Variations \u00a0in \u00a0the\u00a0 level \u00a0of \u00a0bifurcation \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0sciatic \u00a0nerve \u00a0are \u00a0common \u00a0and \u00a0being \u00a0reported \u00a0by \u00a0several \u00a0authors. \u00a0The \u00a0bifurcation \u00a0into \u00a0its\u00a0 two \u00a0major \u00a0trunks \u00a0may \u00a0occur \u00a0anywhere \u00a0between \u00a0the \u00a0sacral \u00a0plexus \u00a0and \u00a0popliteal \u00a0space. \u00a0Significant \u00a0number \u00a0of \u00a0variations \u00a0in \u00a0the \u00a0bifurcation, \u00a0course, \u00a0relation \u00a0and \u00a0distribution \u00a0of \u00a0its\u00a0 branches \u00a0were \u00a0encountered \u00a0in \u00a0sciatic nerve. \u00a0These \u00a0variations \u00a0may \u00a0cause \u00a0nerve \u00a0compressions \u00a0under \u00a0other \u00a0anatomic \u00a0structures, \u00a0resulting \u00a0in \u00a0sciatica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Materials and Methods:<\/strong> 30 \u00a0lower \u00a0limbs \u00a0were \u00a0dissected \u00a0in \u00a0a \u00a0period \u00a0of \u00a03 \u00a0years \u00a0during\u00a0 the \u00a0routine \u00a0dissection \u00a0to\u00a0 note \u00a0the \u00a0relationship \u00a0between \u00a0piriformis \u00a0muscle \u00a0and \u00a0sciatic \u00a0nerve.\u00a0 Only\u00a0 in\u00a0 2\u00a0 lower\u00a0 limbs\u00a0 the\u00a0 variation\u00a0 in\u00a0 division\u00a0 of\u00a0 sciatic\u00a0 nerve was\u00a0 observed\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 present\u00a0 study.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Results:<\/strong> The \u00a0literature \u00a0was \u00a0reviewed \u00a0and \u00a0the \u00a0results \u00a0were \u00a0summarized \u00a0to \u00a0compare \u00a0the \u00a0incidence \u00a0with \u00a0the \u00a0previous \u00a0studies. \u00a0Incidence \u00a0of \u00a0this \u00a0variation \u00a0in \u00a0general \u00a0population \u00a0needs \u00a0to \u00a0be \u00a0investigated \u00a0so \u00a0as \u00a0to \u00a0create \u00a0awareness \u00a0among \u00a0surgeons\u00a0 and \u00a0anaesthetists \u00a0about \u00a0the \u00a0degree \u00a0and \u00a0extent \u00a0of \u00a0variation \u00a0in \u00a0sciatic \u00a0nerve \u00a0formation. \u00a0Complete \u00a0sciatic \u00a0nerve \u00a0blockages \u00a0will \u00a0fail \u00a0even \u00a0after \u00a0multiple \u00a0punctures\u00a0 and \u00a0attempts \u00a0if \u00a0the \u00a0sciatic \u00a0nerve \u00a0is \u00a0present\u00a0 as \u00a0separately \u00a0sheathed \u00a0bundles \u00a0until \u00a0the \u00a0lower \u00a0gluteal \u00a0level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conclusion:<\/strong> The \u00a0aim \u00a0of \u00a0this \u00a0study \u00a0was\u00a0 to \u00a0provide \u00a0and \u00a0define \u00a0the \u00a0level \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0sciatic \u00a0nerve \u00a0exit, \u00a0its \u00a0divisions \u00a0and \u00a0its \u00a0anatomical \u00a0variations \u00a0obtained \u00a0from \u00a0human \u00a0cadavers. \u00a0The \u00a0availability\u00a0 of\u00a0 assessment \u00a0of \u00a0level \u00a0of \u00a0bifurcation \u00a0of \u00a0sciatic\u00a0 nerve \u00a0was \u00a0minimal \u00a0in \u00a0the \u00a0Indian \u00a0literature \u00a0so \u00a0this\u00a0 study \u00a0was \u00a0taken \u00a0to\u00a0 focus \u00a0a\u00a0 fresh\u00a0 light\u00a0 on\u00a0 the \u00a0frequency \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0level \u00a0of \u00a0bifurcation \u00a0of \u00a0sciatic \u00a0nerve. \u00a0The \u00a0differences \u00a0in \u00a0the \u00a0exit \u00a0of \u00a0two \u00a0divisions\u00a0 of\u00a0 sciatic\u00a0 nerve \u00a0are \u00a0important \u00a0in \u00a0clarifying \u00a0the \u00a0clinical \u00a0etiology \u00a0and\u00a0 treatment \u00a0of \u00a0pyriformis \u00a0syndrome.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Key \u00a0words:\u00a0 <\/strong>Sacral \u00a0plexus, \u00a0Epineural \u00a0sheath, \u00a0Sciatica, \u00a0Pyriformis \u00a0syndrome..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>REFERENCES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Kirschner JS, Foye PM, Cole JL.
